What to gift for baby shower

One of my closest friends is having a baby soon and I’m so happy for her! I just recently received an invitation to the baby shower her sisters are throwing for her, and I can’t wait to attend. The giving of baby showers is common in many cultures and dates back centuries, and it’s still a wonderful way to help expectant moms prepare for all the things they will need when the new “bundle of joy” arrives. My friend has chosen not to find out the gender of the baby before she has it, so that has made choosing a gift a little more of a challenging, but I think I found just what I want to give her. In my search though, I came across so many cute and sweet gifts I was inspired to make a list of baby shower gift ideas to share with you! Below is my top list of favorite gift ideas for this special occasion.

A diaper cake. No, this isn’t actually a cake you eat. This cute trend is a tower of diapers, receiving blankets, socks and ribbon that is arranged together in a tower that looks like a multi-tier cake. They often become the centerpiece of the gift table at showers and are easy to customize for a boy, girl, or gender neutral shower.

A fully-loaded on-the-go diaper bag. Diaper bags come in many shapes and sizes these days and there is no shortage of accessories to put in them. If your mom-to-be is a girl-on-the-go she will definitely appreciate receiving a diaper bag that already comes with all the essentials she will need when toting her tot around. Consider filling the bag with a changing pad, bottle insulating sleeve, plastic wipe holder, pre-measured formula container, hand sanitizer, etc.

The safest cribs have no pillows, toys, or blankets. So a wearable, zippered blanket – also called a sleep sack – is a great choice for new babies.

The boppy. This unique, U-shaped pillow helps moms breast feed comfortably while providing a safe, supportive place for the baby to lay.

A baby sling. These baby carriers come in many shapes, styles, and sizes but they all have one purpose – to allow mom to keep her baby attached to her, while her hands are free to do other tasks. Consider mom’s comfort and baby’s safety when picking one out!

If you are buying a gift for a baby whose gender is known and name has been chosen, consider a personalized gift with the baby’s name embroidered onto it. This can be anything from a blanket to a bib, from a shirt to a diaper bag. Monogramming, embroidery, stenciling, and screen printing are all excellent ideas for this cute trend!

A gift just for mom. Everyone at the shower will be giving the mom-to-be gifts for the baby. But what about a gift for her? New moms can always use some time for themselves. Consider giving her a night of babysitting, or a day at the spa to help her feel relaxed during those early sleepless nights.
